When Hank speaks, the football world listens. So, here's your weekly Jets preview and analysis:
So Sports Illustrated has this game listed as the "most highly anticipated game in week 12." My question to you is, when was the last time that the Jets were in the most highly anticipated game in a week this late in the season? The most highly anticipated game in any week?
Here is my pre-game analysis:
New York Jets (7-3) at Tennessee Titans (10-0)
The Key: This week, the key to success lies in the trenches. The match up of the day is Jenkins on Mawae. The Titans are a run oriented team and if Jenkins can plug the middle, the Jets will actually have a chance of winning this thing. On the other side, the key is controlling Albert Haynesworth and protecting Favre.
Offense: As always, run the ball. But the Titans have a good physical D Line, so keeping them honest with some play action, reverses, and screens will be important. Look for Leon Washington and Brad Smith to play big roles. The Titans' D also has the most picks in the league, so let's hope that we see the suddenly consciencious Favre show up.
Defense: The Titans have a very good run attack. The balance of the speedy Chris Johnson and the tough-as-nails LenDale White should put this Jets' run D to the test. The front 7 have to rebound after looking very tired for 2 1/2 quarters of last week's game. The good news: they're well rested. I would not overlook a now confident Kerry Collins, either. He can still throw the long ball. The News mentioned that the Jets have had problems covering the slot receiver this year. That's an understatement. Look for Darelle Revis to match up against the Titans talented TE. The rest of the D has to help him out, though, and put some friggin pressure on him.
Overall: The game will be won or lost on the line of scrimage and the most physical team will win. The Jets are well rested and I believe the Titans are a little banged up. Jets win 23-20.
Note: someone needs to sit Ty Law and Donovan McNabb down and teach them the rules of the NFL.
